A VOLUNTEER GROUP OF VETERINARIANS AND ANIMAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

THE ANIMAL PLANNING TASK FORCE
The Animal Planning Task Force was created by the NYC Office of Emergency Management to represent the needs of animals in disaster recovery. Several organizations were approached to join and have worked together since 2002 to provide resources and advice for the Coastal Storm Plan and the Disaster Animal Response Plan.

During Hurricane Irene and again in Super Storm Sandy, these unrelated groups worked together harmoniously to provide safe shelter for hundreds of NYC pets and strays.

Core members include:  The ASPCA, The Mayor’s Alliance for Animals, NYC Veterinary Emergency Response Team, Animal Care & Control of NYC, The Humane Society of the US and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and The City of New York Office of Emergency Management Human Services Division.
